Windows x64 1.0.41 · ARM64 1.0.41
Signed, packaged and available
SmartCut64 Personal is available as a one-time purchase through Lemon Squeezy, with signed Windows x64 and ARM64 binaries, corresponding source and checksums attached to the release.
New in 1.0.41
Opening a different video now clears the previous source's temporary crop and export settings, including after Save Video has used the crop. Reloading the same video retains its crop. Saved custom profiles keep their configured settings.
Previous update: 1.0.40
Broadcast export fixes cover implicit HE-AAC transport headers, H.264 cut-boundary decode timing and untimed teletext packets proven to be outside the selected scenes. Ambiguous timing and damaged retained frames still require review or explicit recovery.
A new right-side Crop Video button opens the crop tool. Open Video remembers the last import folder across launches. Keyboard navigation pauses playback before moving, thumbnail visibility is remembered, Alt menu keys are distinct, and marking a new In after an old Out correctly selects to the end. The standard-user installer defaults to Local AppData while respecting an explicit destination.
Previous update: 1.0.39
QuickStream Fix now honours the current source track selection in ordinary, dimension-filter and damaged-recording recovery modes. Broadcast AAC/LATM audio with valid alignment padding is accepted while audio payload and corruption checks remain in place.
A transient or malformed navigation-worker response retries once with software decoding. Damaged TS export failures offer a direct route to the recovery dialog. Recovery remains an explicit choice, saves a new file and reports removed sections; it can remove undecodable sections and rebuild video, so keep the original and review the result.
Previous update: 1.0.38
Video preview now follows the audio playback device clock, correcting drift caused by different startup delays. Repeated backward frame stepping reuses clean decoded frames. Exact broadcast cuts now select the correct video index when other streams precede it, including recordings with teletext.
Applied crops remain in effect when choosing another export profile, including HEVC. Resize the Crop Video dialog for a larger preview, or choose Export to open Save Video directly.
Indexing has reduced packet lookup and navigation-data overhead while retaining normal decoding and damage checks. In one test of a 40-minute recording, initial indexing fell from about 99 to 96 seconds; first-time indexing still takes time. Playback device-clock tests at three positions in the supplied recording stayed within 46 milliseconds. These measurements are not a complete human lip-sync or recorder-compatibility review.
Previous update: 1.0.37
Drag crop edges or corners in the preview, with synchronised pixel values. The sidebar now provides Open Joiner, Add To Batch and Open Batch Tool, keeping list management and export within the appropriate tool.
Previous update: 1.0.36
Crop Video provides a shaded preview, exact pixel edges and reusable profile settings. Cropping is applied before resizing and requires full video encoding; Dolby Vision dynamic metadata is not retained by re-encoding. Title font and colour dialogs preview changes live and restore the previous value on Cancel. The Joiner has optional chapter marks at clip starts and optional list clearing on close, both initially off. Active and pending jobs retain their items.
Full encoding no longer inherits picture-type decisions from the source encoder. Existing output files are protected when a transform fails. These changes do not claim to resolve an underlying GPU-driver fault or the reported whole-PC lockup.
Previous update: 1.0.35
Adjacent frame stepping keeps the previous exact picture visible until the requested frame is ready, preventing a temporary preroll picture from flashing during reverse steps. Windows hardware encoder self-tests run in separate processes: a failed or stalled encoder is reported without aborting the remaining comparisons.
Previous update: 1.0.34
MPEG-2 transport-stream smart exports with subtitles now pass the retained-scene interleaving check without weakening payload or timing validation. Supported H.264 MP4 files use bounded sample tables and a short decoded opening check to prepare the editing timeline. Complete timeline verification is deferred to export and cached. Unsupported layouts retain the existing indexing path.
H.264 scene joins now repeat each input's decoder headers, preventing incompatible state from a preceding smart-rendered tail.
Previous update: 1.0.33
Native output-profile backup and restore are available under Tools > Edit Output Profiles. Back Up Profiles saves a .smartcut-profiles.json file with all persisted custom-profile settings, ordering, enabled/favourite flags and the default selection. Restore validates the file and stages the replacement until Save. Cancel preserves saved profiles, and committing a restore first writes a recovery backup.
Verification covers exact round trips, malformed and unsupported files, cancelled dialogs, invalid restores and backup-write failures, recovery rollback and restored-default fallback. Backups cover profiles rather than licences, media or projects.
Previous update: 1.0.32
Saving a project now refreshes audio validation, allowing export without reopening the project. Smart TS edits retain selected teletext outside Matroska working media and restore its retained packets on the edited video timeline. H.264 packet-copy ranges reconstruct decode timestamps while retaining encoded pictures and presentation timestamps.
The fixes were investigated from supplied projects and failure logs. Controlled checks cover GUI save readiness, teletext payload and timing, strict decoding, protected output files and H.264 reorder depths up to 16 B-frames. The reporting customer's original recording was not supplied, so its exact end-to-end result remains unconfirmed.
Previous update: 1.0.30
Satellite transport streams with reserved null packets now load correctly. Output-profile audio codec, sample rate, channel and bitrate settings apply to all retained audio tracks. Known damaged video is reported with cut or recovery guidance. Explicit TS recovery and QuickStream Fix retain supported teletext data, and QuickStream Fix protects existing destination files.
Network exports retain local processing and direct network delivery without creating extra temporary export folders beside the result. Cleanup records exact ownership, skips active jobs and retries locked or interrupted work in the background. Existing untracked folders are left untouched. Local exports and simple whole-file copies keep their existing path.
Development verification includes strict full audio/video decoding of both supplied TS recordings after recovery and MP4 conversion, 19 cleanup ownership cases, 11 cleanup-process lifecycle cases and 15 network integration checks. Three warm runs per build on the tested share had a median of about 4.65 seconds before and after the cleanup change. These results are specific to the tested files and network, and do not replace human visual or lip-sync review.
Previous update: 1.0.29
Corrected presentation timestamps for Xvid/MPEG-4 AVI inputs resolve MP4 and MPEG Program Stream export failures. MPEG-4 MPG output now preserves per-frame timing and includes the decoder information needed when an export starts partway through a recording. Compatible frames remain eligible for copying and smart rendering; MPEG-4 MPG files can be larger because frames are packaged separately.
Both reported exports from the original customer recording passed strict audio/video decoding and frame-timing checks. The MP4 test copied all 1,034 video frames unchanged. The MPG test retained 1,179 unchanged pictures and re-encoded 128 cut-boundary frames. These are automated checks, not a full human visual or lip-sync review.
Previous update: 1.0.28
Run LKFS Scan measures loudness and peaks on the first selected audio track. Adjust Audio adds project output gain, audio format selection and a calculated gain with optional peak headroom. Native projects, recovery journals, Undo/Redo, queued editor exports and edited Joiner items retain these adjustments. The update also fixes audio sync during gain/fade re-encoding and MPEG program-stream framing for MPEG-2 video and private audio streams such as AC3.
Audio-tool verification includes 13 passed regression tests, independent loudness and gain comparisons, and a customer MPEG-2/AC3 clip with the expected gain change and unchanged video packets. This is not a full human listening or lip-sync review. Read the LKFS Scan guide and Adjust Audio guide for the workflow and measurement limits.
